History of S.O.S

S.O.S. was started in mid 2003 and was formed by Jonathan Clarke and Scottie P. A lost guitar player and a lonesome drummer looking for a break. The two worked together and word soon got out about each other's interests in music. It wasn't long before the two started jamming together in Scottie's basement. After scraping off three inches of dust, Scottie's drums came alive.

They both decided that something was missing ... a bass player. Never before having a guitar strapped to his shoulder Jon's friend Puliti became the original bass player for S.O.S. It took two weeks for the group to learn their very first song together. The group played a few small parties together but that was about it.

Along came Murphy who helped work on a new sound and direction for the band. Jon found out that Murphy had played bass for 12 years so just like that Murphy became a part of S.O.S as the rhythm guitar player.

S.O.S played a few open mic nights and landed their first big show in New Cumberland playing at Carnahans.

Murphy stayed with the band through the end of 2006 before moving on. S.O.S then consisted of Jon H., Puliti and Scottie for the next few years.

As time went on Scottie's extracurricular activities had him missing practices so Jon H. and Puliti decided to make a change. Additionally, Murphy returned to S.O.S and at that time the band started adding more and more cover songs to the set list.

S.O.S auditioned a few drummers and had decided on a replacement drummer named "Bix." However, Bix was also in another band and as a a result there were major scheduling conflicts.

S.O.S then sought out JT and The Mild Heat (another band S.O.S was playing with at that time) and asked them if their drummer could fill in for a few shows. JT and The Mild Heat's drummer suggested a friend and co-worker, Larry.

After the very first practice together, Jon H., Murphy and Puliti knew that Larry was the drummer for S.O.S and he officially joined the band in 2009.

S.O.S was ready to get back into playing shows again until Murphy and Puliti informed the group that they were leaving the band to pursue other endeavors.

Yet again, Jon (the sole remaining founder of S.O.S) found himself scrambling to fill the vacant spots. Another band suggested an amazing lead guitarist named Rob. Rob accepted and joined the band in 2009 but S.O.S was still without a bass player.

At this time Scottie (the band's original drummer) filled in on bass for a short period. Unfortunately, Scottie's lack of devotion to the band forced S.O.S to let him go.

S.O.S auditioned several bass players before meeting up Jon C, who had got in touch with Jon H. via email. An audtion later and S.O.S knew it had found its bass player.

Rob moved on and out of the live music scene in 2011 and was replaced by S.O.S's best lead guitarist yet, Doug Barnes.

After hundreds of shows and a few lineup changes S.O.S has its strongest group ever and is ready to rock South-Central PA for years to come!
